POLIS Support Team

At POLIS, our dedicated POLIS Support Team is committed to ensuring the well-being of our members. Comprised of two trust persons, an Internationalization Officer and a Sustainability Officer, our team is dedicated to providing the highest level of assistance. We prioritize the holistic development of our members, focusing on their well-being, internationalization, and sustainability efforts. With our diverse team, we are well-equipped to support our members on their journey towards success, both locally and globally.

Our Trust Persons

A trust person is someone you can confide in about personal or sensitive matters, knowing that they will keep your information confidential. They offer a supportive and non-judgmental space for you to share your concerns and challenges.

Our trust persons are always a member of POLIS but will not be a board member. You can go to this person to voice confidential issues, or any serious problems you’ve had with other members. If you want to talk to the trust person, you can choose if the content of that talk gets shared with the board or not. Of course, there is always a possibility to go to the board with these issues, but we hope the trust person lowers the threshold for members to interact with the association in a confidential manner. This can contribute to a safe environment for members, where they feel free to voice any problems they have with the association or any of its members.

Weronika Podwysocka

Hi everyone!

I’m Weronika and I will be one of the trust persons of POLIS this year. I’m 19 years old and a second-year student of Organization and Management Studies. This is also my second year as an active POLIS member. I moved to Tilburg in 2023 and I really enjoy living here! Last year, I had a lot of fun going to and organizing POLIS activities, so you’ll probably see me around this year too! Next to going to parties, I really enjoy traveling, running and playing tennis.

I find it important to maintain the positive environment that we have within POLIS. So I’m always here to talk if you face any issues or have concerns that you’d like to discuss. I hope to create a safe space where everyone feels comfortable and supported.

I’m looking forward to another amazing year at POLIS!

Love,

Weronika Podwysocka

Frens de Vries

Hello everyone!

My name is Frens and I will be this years trustperson together with Weronika! I’m 21 years old and have been living in Tilburg for about two years. During those 2 years, I have been an active member at POLIS so I know my way around the association 🙂
In my free time I like to play & watch football, play golf and hang around at the PK. Before I started studying, I worked in tech support at a hospital in Utrecht. I encountered a lot of sensative information about patients and hospital staff which was not meant to be shared with anyone. I always took my roll seriously, and with succes.

POLIS is about fun and socializing but it is also meant to be a safe space. If you want to adress or talk about something, POLIS related or not, I am always available and we will figure it out! Together we will make sure POLIS will be the safe space it is meant to be!

Love,

Frens de Vries

Our Officers

What is a Sustainability Officer?

While we as individuals only have limited influence on sustainability, there are many little things we can do to make the world a bit greener. Our Sustainability Officer will help POLIS and its members with becoming more sustainable. The Sustainability Officer will brainstorm with committees and come up with concrete ideas about how to make events more sustainable. Next to that our Sustainability Officer will write columns regularly about various topics regarding sustainability.

What is a Internationalization Officer?

The Internationalization Officer is a contact person between internationals and the board. Thanks to their outside insight we as board can gather interesting feedback on how to make POLIS even more international-friendly

Carlijn Schrama

Sustainability Officer

Hi everyone!

My name is Carlijn and I’m in my third year of GMSI. I chose this study because I want our world to be a place that will still be liveable for future generations and where everyone feels included, and I hope to be able to contribute to this vision! By being your new sustainability officer, I wish to inspire you to see things from a different perspective. Sustainability is so much more than just “fighting climate change” and has a lot of aspects to it. I hope that I can provide POLIS’ members and the board with new insights and information regarding sustainability.

I believe that taking baby steps is really important, and will eventually lead to a more sustainable lifestyle overall. If you eat vegan one day a week, you’ll save 52 animals from being killed a year, which is a great start!!

If you ever want to talk about anything sustainability related, feel free to reach out to me :).

Xavier Klein

Internationalization Officer

Hey everyone,

My name is Xavier, and I’m from the U.S., currently studying Global Management of Social Issues (GMSI). I’m really excited to be your Internationalization Officer this year! Having moved here alone, I know firsthand what it’s like to navigate life in a new country without having anyone to turn to. That experience made me passionate about helping others who may feel the same way. My goal is to be a resource for you, whether you need help adjusting, or just someone to talk to.

I believe that diversity enriches our community, and I’m committed to helping make POLIS a more inclusive space where everyone feels at home, regardless of where they come from. Beyond that, I love cooking different foods and would be happy to share insights into U.S. culture (or any recipes!) if you’re curious.

Feel free to reach out if you ever need support, want to chat, or have ideas on how we can make things even better. I’m always here to listen!

Looking forward to a great year ahead with all of you!
