Internationalization Officer by Réka Gyaraki

Internationalization Officer

Heyy there! My name is Réka and I was the Internationalization Officer in POLIS in the academic year 2021-2022. Being the IO of POLIS was not only a huge honor, but also a lot of fun so I can definitely recommend it to everyone who wants to do something extra next to studying. My main task as the IO was to organize an event in the topic of internationalization, but there was a lot of freedom to decide what exactly that event will look like. One of the board members also helped me in the whole organizing process which made things much easier. At the end we organized a game night with traditional Dutch childhood games and international snacks to mix some cultures. Next to the event we also organized a cozy get-together with the international members to get to know each other more and have a fun night together. For me the best thing about being the IO was to get to know the international members and their cultures more, hear a lot of interesting stories and fun facts about their home countries. In addition, POLIS is in the process of becoming more and more international and it was really interesting to be involved in the discussions about how this shift is happening and how it could be improved.
All in all, being the IO is a fun experience that you can learn a lot from while also having fun!
