Data science and the impact it can have on organizations by Noelle Cicilia

Everyone has heard about data science at some point, but what is it actually? In the field of data science, we apply techniques from artificial intelligence, computer science and statistics in order to make predictions about everything around us. People oftentimes associate data science with hard core technical settings, but it can be applied in practically every setting. You can use data science to identify tumors during brain scans, but also to predict how crowded a shopping area is going to be, for instance. It’s all very diverse! The thing I enjoyed most about the MSc Data Science and Entrepreneurship, is that it is very much applied. We weren’t only involved with fancy algorithms and programming, but also a lot with the practical application of data science and the impact it can have on organizations.
